The A G Khan Foundation was established in 2018 as an informal entity to help the people of Barazai village, District Attock, Punjab, Pakistan. As of 2021, it has been incorporated as a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental and non-religious organization in the State of California, USA.
Education for Rural Youth
Rural communities face many barriers that inhibit their direct access to quality education. We work with local families and partner with schools and organizations to make higher education attainable for rural youth. We intervene at the individual level by providing financial aid to students, and we work at the community level by supporting access to resources such as technological equipment and establishing community centers that include libraries, student tutoring and adult literacy services, and vocational training. We support access to regional higher education institutions by partnering with local organizations to fund transportation services for students.
Healthcare for Rural Communities
We believe every individual should have access to basic needs. We build village/town level health clinics and partner with local medical professionals to provide access to quality healthcare services. We partner locally to ensure that healthcare services can be sustainable.
Social Welfare for Rural Communities
Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students and families have the necessary support to do their best learning. We directly or indirectly, by partnering with local Pakistani institutions, establish multi-purpose resource centers for health education and referrals to various social welfare services and resources.
