Barazai Welfare Society (BWS)
The A G Khan Foundation has partnered with the Pakistani organization, Barazai Welfare Society (formally established in 2016), to provide social welfare services to the village of Barazai. Since 2017, the A G Khan Foundation has provided a facility for the Barazai Welfare Society to support their operations, which has been critical to their successful delivery of supportive services to Barazai residents in the areas of education, healthcare, and social welfare.
Some of the services that the Barazai Welfare Society has provided include:
2016:
establishment of ambulance services to support timely access to emergency services within facilities located regionally outside of the village (3 ambulances bought and in service),
2017
establishment of local waste management services
2018
establishment of bus services to support safe transportation of female students to regional colleges
2020
establishment of a water filtration plant to support community access to clean filtered water,
establishment of a Food Bank to distribute basic food resources (sugar, rice, ghee),
provision of financial aid to needy families due to the impact of COVID-19
2021
the distribution of over 2,000 fruit trees to local families (ongoing),
2022
overseeing administrative aspects of the A G Khan Memorial Hospital,
distribution of care packages containing food resources (water, sugar, flour, ghee), clothing, and dishware as well as monetary donations to needy families impacted by catastrophic monsoon floodings,
cemetery maintenance services (ongoing),
repair of public roadways and bridges (ongoing).
