Our Approach

Our Plan

The A G Khan Foundation was established in 2018 as an informal entity to help the people of Barazai village, District Attock, Punjab, Pakistan.  In 2021, it was incorporated as a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental and non-religious organization in the State of California, USA.

AGKF plans to operate in the rural areas of Pakistan and strives to pull the desperately poor out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Education and health are extremely critical to  the well-being of society. Rural areas face severe barriers in these two areas due to their remoteness, lack of transportation, lack of basic infrastructure, dire poverty levels, lack of vocational skills and meaningful work, and shortage of basic resources.  Additionally, there is an extreme shortage of educational and healthcare professionals to serve these communities. The basic aim of the Foundation is to further the common good and general welfare of the community through promotion and availability of quality education and access to healthcare.

Long-Term Goals and Objectives

Increase Access to Quality Education:

  • To provide free education including text books, school supplies, uniforms, scholarships, prizes etc. to poverty-ridden children,

  • To provide financial aid for technical and higher education to students based  on academic merit as well as financial need,

  • To assist existing schools of all grade levels towards improving their educational standards,

  • To help establish Science and Technology programs for children in rural schools by developing Science/Computer labs and providing lab equipment and other necessary resources,

  • To improve access to regional higher education programs by providing and/or funding transportation services,

  • To implement adult literacy programs,

  • To establish community centers at the village/town level for literacy/vocational programs with libraries, tutoring centers and other basic facilities for adults as well as the youth.

Increase Access to Quality Healthcare:

  • To provide basic healthcare through building village/town level health clinics and partnering with local healthcare professionals to provide direct services.

Support Social Welfare Services:

  • To directly or indirectly, by partnering with local institutions, establish a multi-purpose resource center for health education and referrals to various services and resources.
