Shereen is the grand-niece of Abdullah G. Khan, and daughter of Naimat A. Khan & Husan F. Khan. Shereen graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelors degree in Integrative Biology, and from Santa Clara University with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and emphasis in Health Psychology.
As a Muslim, psychotherapist, and daughter of immigrants, Shereen is passionate about mental health, spirituality, social justice, immigration, and multicultural issues. She has provided community-based mental health services to low-income populations in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2007, currently works as Director of Administration at a nonprofit mental health agency, and also has a psychotherapy private practice based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work has entailed serving at-risk youth and families involved with the child welfare system impacted by intergenerational trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, chronic homelessness, and/or placement within the foster-care system.
Shereen grew up visiting the village of Barazai frequently in her youth, and has joined the A G Khan Foundation Board of Directors as a founding member to support sustainable access to social services, healthcare, and education within Barazai and the Chach region of Pakistan. Shereen believes that with one’s internal drive and support from one’s community, intergenerational transformation is possible. Through the A G Khan Foundation, Shereen strives to create a brighter future for Pakistanis in need, supporting them to become self-sustainable to create the change they desire in their lives.
