Pakistan Flood Relief
Monsoon flooding in Pakistan has impacted an estimated 33 million and left over 1,000 dead. About a third whom have died were children. Homes, vehicles, schools, and businesses have been destroyed.
In effort to provide timely relief for flood victims, A G Khan Foundation (AGKF) supported donation efforts (collected 1.7 million PKR) and partnered with Barazai Welfare Society (BWS).
BWS initially sent a team to the Charsadda area, located within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, to complete a needs assessment for planning purposes. They found that this region had experienced 4 feet of flooding. BWS then spearheaded donation coordination efforts with local regions and housed donations at their office site, which served as a donation distribution center provided by AGKF. BWS’s team of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to collect donations such as money, clothing, food items (ghee, grain, sugar, water bottles, etc.), linen, dishware, and other supplies to create care packages for impacted families. Barazai residents were generous towards donation of needed items, and volunteered towards creating care packages, at times loading the truck with donated goods during the night under conditions with limited and transient electricity.
On 8/31/22, Barazai Welfare Society (BWS) conducted their initial trip to distribute care packages estimated at 11 tons of materials to 400 families in villages in Charsadda area.
On 9/6/22, BWS volunteers distributed another 100 care packages for families, and provided 5,000 PKR each to an additional 300 families in the Charsadda region.
The A G Khan Foundation would like to thank those who donated generously towards this cause, and also recognize Barazai Welfare Society for their timely coordination and delivery of these crucial services and goods to Pakistan flood victims.
